Usain Bolt, Lubica Slovak Split: Jamaican Sprinter Breaks Up With Girlfriend To Focus On Olympics

Bolt Breaks Up With Girlfriend To Focus On Olympics

Usain Bolt captured the world's attention at the 2008 Beijing Olympics by winning three gold medals and breaking the world record in the 100-meter race. The Jamaican sprinter is now looking to retain the title of "Fastest Man In The World" at the London Games this summer. As the London Games draw near, Bolt has decided to limit any potential distractions.

According to the Daily Mail, Bolt recently broke up with his girlfriend, fashion designer Lubica Slovak, in order to focus on winning gold at the upcoming Olympics.

The reported split comes days after a photo of the two kissing sparked criticism throughout Jamaica, with many people disapproving of Bolt having a relationship with a white woman. The 25-year-old Bolt had been dating Slovak, 28, for six months.

Whether or not breaking up with Slovak affects his focus on the Olympics, a professor of mathematical sciences at Britain's Cambridge University has already concluded that Bolt is physically capable of breaking his own world record at the 100-meter sprint in London.

Although many consider Bolt to be racing merely against the clock, his countryman and training partner Yohan Blake figures to provide tough competition. Blake, who won the 100-meter event at the 2011 World Championships in Daegu after Bolt was disqualified for a false start, recently clocked the year's fastest time over that distance at the Cayman Invitational.

Upon being named"Athlete of the Year" by the IAAF in 2011, Bolt said he'd like to add the 1,600-meter relay to his events for the London Games. But Former Olympic 400-meter champion Michael Johnson doubted Bolt's chanced of winning four gold medals if he participated in that event.
