The thought of islands almost always conjures up images of impeccable beaches, bright flowers and lush rainforests.

While those are certainly beautiful, not all of Earth's islands are located in the Caribbean or South Pacific. In the new book "The 10 Best of Everything," National Geographic combed the globe's maritime locations, compiling a list of the world's 10 best islands, showing that the shores of the U.K. can hold their own against the likes of Thailand and Polynesia.
