Jason Todd Ready Abused Lisa Mederos Before Fatal Shooting, Cops Say

Jason Todd 'JT' Ready allegedly killed 4 people, including a toddler, in a domestic dispute on May 2 before committing suicide.

GILBERT, Ariz. (AP) -- The girlfriend of a former neo-Nazi who allegedly killed her and three others had told police that he choked her but declined to have him removed from her home in a Phoenix suburb two months before the fatal shooting.

The Arizona Republic ( http://bit.ly/KflyNz ) reports that Gilbert police advised 47-year-old Lisa Mederos to file an order of protection against Jason Todd "JT" Ready in February.

She told police that Ready choked her twice in seven months and wouldn't leave her home. Police reports show she became tearful and declined to file a restraining order.

Police say Ready was uncooperative when they visited the home a week later.

Authorities believe Ready killed Mederos and three others, including a toddler, in a domestic dispute May 2 before turning the gun on himself.

This story illustrates the potentially deadly bind women who are being domestically abused face and how current laws and law enforcement procedures are not sufficient to protect and defend them. Lo and behold the timeliness of "House Republican Bill Undermines the Violence Against Women Act." And the ongoing Republican war on women is a myth?? Tell this woman's family it's all in their heads. Women, especially, who support these blatantly anti-women Republicans are in need of intense psychological help, in my opinion.

The GOTPers backed this guy when he was a Minuteman, running around Arizona armed to the teeth shooting at anything that moved. And Pearce and Arpaio called him a "friend". Now they're running away from this guy like the rats on a sinking ship that they always prove themselves to be. Since restraining orders seem to be an invitation for crazies to come back & kill the person who took out the order, I understand that she may have been too scared. Ultimately of course it made no difference.

He admitted to choking her. That's a crime. She shouldn't have had to pursue a restraining order. He committed a crime. He should have been arrested then, when she was cooperative to the cops and he admitted it himself. But he wasn't. I wonder why not? Oh wait, I think I know, it's because it was a "domestic violence" dispute and the criminal justice system quite frankly doesn't care about this type of crime. By the way, "putting him out" probably would not have done her much good as he would have come right back. Unless the cops were about to sit outside of her home he would have come back and potentially hurt her like he did this time. Also just google domestic violence and protection orders, you will find that they offer no protection. Research finds that the woman is actually in more danger once they do that since the man is angry. Think about it, the protection order does not create an impenetrable force field around her. Sure, there is a piece of paper that says he can't come near her. But really, there are pieces of paper (the law) that says he isn't supposed to attack her in the first place so clearly it doesn't matter to him. They should have arrested him and prosecuted him for his crimes against her. He should have been behind bars where he could not have gotten to her.

She probably did want him out...but the act of doing it probably would have put her in greater harm...unfortunately when dealing with this type of personality (or lack thereof) doesn't matter what a person does...they will be abused whether they act or not. Very sad for her and her family and all others, except for him, involved.
