Katy Perry Divorce: Russell Brand Confesses He 'Still Loves' Ex-Wife Katy Perry (VIDEO)

Russell Brand's got nothing but love for ex Katy Perry.

The 36-year-old comedian appeared on "Ellen" Thursday and revealed his feelings about the popstar.

"I still love her as a human being," Brand said, "But sometimes when you're in a relationship, I suppose it doesn't work out, does it? But that doesn't mean I regret it or anything."

"I was very happy to be married with her," Brand said of his 14-month marriage to the singer. "She's such a beautiful human being and I just have only love and positivity for her"

But should we believe him? After all, the last time Brand talked about Perry with DeGenres, he said that he was "really happily married," noting, "perpetually, until death do us part, was the pledge."

Later that month, the funny man filed for divorce.

Still, the former pair's split, which was finalized in February, was reportedly amicable -- Perry signed the divorce docs with a smiley face and Brand requested no money from his former wife, though he may have been entitled to half of what the 27-year-old singer had earned during their marriage because the pair had no prenup. The British comedian also reportedly gave Perry rights to the $6.5 million home they bought while married.

But what Perry gained in real estate, she lost on Twitter -- Brand finally decided to unfollow his ex on the social media site last week.

Russell Brand is NOT a "funny man". He's gross and obnoxious and did Perry a huge favor by divorcing her.

While I deeply support our troops, I would not automatically assume someone who traveled far from their family to kill people in a conflict that less than 40% of the population agrees with is a "good" person. Many of them are, but do not make the mistake in thinking all soldiers are great people.

They shouldn't have gotten married in the first place. Differences in religion and money are two of the biggest reasons for marriage tension and divorce.

He took only the money he had earned rather than the half he was entitled to, something few wives do when they get divorced, and even signed over the mansion to her and she responded by writing a nasty song about him. And even now he speaks kindly of her. Russell gets every points in how he handled the divorce. Perry, not so much.

It's her latest single called "Wide Awake". She'll be singing it on Sunday night at the Billboard Music Awards. She's about to release a new VEVO video for it as well. I hear Katy writes in a daily journal about what's going on in her life. I bet she did plenty of writing in the past 6 months. It was probably good therapy to do that and get those negative thoughts out of her system.

I bet she has one or two more songs about her marriage with Russell in her upcoming 3rd studio album. I hope Katy doesn't change her "signature sound" too much and do a whole album of sad songs like Adele might do. I like Katy's pop/rock sound from her first album and her mainstream pop sound from the second album. She should stick with that. Her music resonates with millions of people. It "works" like they say in Hollywood.
