Struggling to be honest with loved ones without hurting their feelings proved to be crippling throughout this week's installment of "Modern Family" (Wed., 9 p.m. ET on ABC). Phil abhors confrontation of any kind, so he was reluctant to let Mitchell go after he agreed to help on the legal end of Phil's new business on a temporary basis.
At the same time, Mitchell was trying to figure out how to tell Phil he really didn't want to keep helping much longer. Yes, they were on the same page, but afraid to say anything to one another.
The funniest moment came when Gloria got jealous of a waitress and convinced Jay they should be more open and honest with one another. So he told her she was just a little bit loud. The only thing funnier than loudly yelling Gloria is quietly yelling Gloria.
Luke, on the other hand, taught Manny that sometimes in life one gets rewarded for lying. He got a medal for putting out a fire at school. What the school didn't know was that he started the fire as well.
