Travel Expert Shares Insights On Babymoons Ahead Of 'What To Expect' (PHOTOS)

We've seen the "staycation," the "mancation" and even the "nakation," but the next pseudo-trend from the travel industry might just be a legitimately good idea -- and a particularly timely one with this Friday's release of the book-turned-film "What to Expect When You're Expecting."

Babymoons, or vacations for expecting mothers and their partners taken during pregnancy, are designed to give a couple "a last getaway before you start having midnight diaper runs and all the good things that come along with having a newborn," says Jeanenne Tornatore, senior editor at Orbitz.com.

Tornatore says the demand for the vacations is real, but that couples should keep a few things in mind when planning a babymoon.

Finding a place with a comfortable climate is essential, as is finding a destination within a few hours of home in order to avoid discomfort during your trip, Tornatore says. Also important, she adds, is finding "a hotel or resort that has amenities that are on-site or nearby. You may not be up for a lot of traveling around locally."

Some more advice: Keep in mind that cruise companies and airlines do have restrictions on when pregnant women can travel and don't be shy about asking these questions when booking.

Asked where she spent her babymoon, Tornatore, who is due to deliver in four weeks, made a startling admission.

"I didn't get to take a babymoon," Tornatore said. "I guess that's what happens when it's your third kid."

Here are four resorts that are ideal for babymoons.
