Not every relationship survived the penultimate season finale of "30 Rock" (Thu., 8:30 p.m. ET on NBC). Jack and Avery agreed to let Liz officiate the ceremony that would see them renew their wedding vows after Avery's time held captive in North Korea. But it turned out they were waiting for someone to stop them.
Jack had kissed Avery's mother, and Avery had developed a weird hostage-tapping romance with a fellow prisoner while away in North Korea. Even Kim Jong Il showed up for the ceremony, but in the end none of them stepped up to stop the proceedings. It absolutely disgusted the couple that no one tried to stop them, helping them to realize they needed to stop themselves. So they had Liz divorce them instead.
As for Liz, she's matured quite a bit. She was ready to go to prison for Criss, and seems to have completely accepted him for who he is. They're even thinking about having a baby together. Could this love be real? It would make sense, as "30 Rock" heads into its final season next year.
"30 Rock" has been renewed for a seventh and final 13-episode season, returning to NBC's Thursday night line-up in Fall 2012.
