Bill Clinton Abandons Old Ally Charlie Rangel

Bill Clinton is abandoning his old ally Charles Rangel, who is fighting for his political life as he seeks re-election to a 22nd term, The Post has learned.

Harlem Rep. Rangel won’t be getting an endorsement from the former president, who will sit out the primary, a Clinton source said.

This is simply politics. Rangel's primary rival is a fromer Clinton aide. There is no "abandoning" going on here.

Rangel is 81 years old. It's time to get out. He has probably been collecting his pensions since he turned 65, plus his wage, like many of the others.

Let the younger ones step in and let the older ones volunteer to school them into fine politicians...that's called serving your country, your community, paying back or just being patriotic.

Since HP was purchased, I have come to find the false and misleading headlines troubling. The article indicates that Clinton is not going to endorse anyone because the challenger is a person who was on the staff of his organization. If Clinton was abandoning Rangel, he would have endorsed the challenger.

I'm no fan of Charlie Rangel.... or Bill Clinton either. This is one more example that the Clintons use and then toss away. They demand loyalty, but it only flows in one direction. The line that "the former president has a personal conflict this time around. One of Rangel’s rivals, Clyde Williams, was a top aide at the Clinton Foundation and worked in the Clinton administration." It wasn't a a conflict, however, until the Clinton machine back Williams as its man, and now need to throw Rangel under the bus.

Similarly, when Hillary needed NYC votes, Bill loudly with great media coverage based his Foundation in Harlem. As soon as Hillary needed no more votes, the Foundation quietly moved its operations to "Wall Street", a very telling value statement. Harlem had served its purpose for the Clintons.

If Williams succeeds in defeating Rangel, instead of representing Harlem, he will be representing Bill Clinton and his corporate profiteering backers. Sad to see. The people of Harlem and the nation deserve better.

I quite like Charlie Rangel......both as himself...and as a "type"
IE: a big city liberal politician in the style of another era.....when the United States was still able to do big things.
I genuinely hope the citizens in his district re-elect him.....

Oh please. The Clnton Foundation and Global Initiative are promoted by huge exageration and hype, making excessive claims that have never been adequately audited, assessed or documentated by a third party source. They claim credit for billions of dollars and work that others do and would have done without them, simply because someone fills out a form, and return gets to party for a cause. They serve as a front for some truly shady influence peddling, business profiteering and tax dodging.

One need only look at Clintons dealings with Canadian billionaire Frank Giustra, shady urnanimum deals, and resulting mega millions, and the work of Doug Band, Duplan Kelly and the emergence of super shady Teneo Capital hedge fund to get an idea.

What an interesting turn of events. Just yesterday one of MSNBC's shows was commenting how both Clintons have a long memory for those who were loyal to them (and not) during the 2008 election. Charlie Rangel clung long to the Hillary train and now he too has been abandoned by the Clintons.
