Dew-Soaked Bugs Are 'Small Monsters' In Ondrej Pakan's Macro Photo Series (PHOTOS)

Dew Soaked Macro Bugs
Photographer Ondrej Pakav captures over a dozen insects up close using macro photography

Ondrej Pakan gets up and personal with some of nature's smallest critters in his incredible macro photo series.

According to Treehugger, the Slovakian photographer used macrophotography to capture the bugs on camera just moments after a downpour of rain.

The captivating images feature a wide variety of insects and spiders "glistening to hundreds of dew drops," Environmental Graffiti observes.

"We can discover a world of small monsters. Each fly, bee and spider is a perfect predator or a warring victim in this empire. It's always a big surprise for me to find out how many species, forms and colors exist in this kingdom," Pakan wrote of the series on his website.

"I get soaked waiting for the rain to finish, but it all seems worth it when you get really great shots of the insects with drops on them," he told the Telegraph.

I'm a sci-fi nerd, and I often think about insectoid intelligent life. I couldn't imagine. Bugs freak me out :-) These images are beautiful, but I am literally prepping my phobia before I go from one image to another. I have to prepare otherwise I would scream and throw my computer across the room!

I think that's the one Lalabomba commented: the dragon fly with the blue face is now my desktop.

To each their own. Myself, I'm glad that these are SMALL insects.

That little insect looks so cute and colorful. Of course I don't want them in my house.

If the definition of macro is "of great size; large," or, "large in scope or extent," why are we using macrophotography and a macro photo series to view the smallest bugs on the planet? Wouldn't it be microphotography and a micro photo series? Maybe I missed out on the grammar class where micro turns into macro only when referring to insects. Nor is the definition or implication of macro 'to make small things look big.' Why don't you just type the article like kids type text messages, next time. I'd be about as impressed.
On the upside, the photos are amazing. Thank you.
