PETS GIVE AND GET LOVE.. THEY GIVE FAMLIES LOYAL COMPANY ..OFTEN ALERT TO DANGER..THEY TEACH CHILDREN ABOUT CARING.. LOVING..PROTECTION.. AFFECTION.. THEY FEEL NICE TO CUDDLE WITH.. YUP PETS ARE GOOD..............

As for the negative reason...life is messy sometimes. An important lesson for kids and adults.

I voted yes on the poll, but I wasn't excited about the "positive" reason. Yes, kids should have pets (when they are mature enough), but not mainly to learn responsibility.

Mainly to learn love. To learn loyalty. To learn joy.

And, ultimately, to learn about life and death.
