Projection Mapping On Denver's Clyfford Still Museum Will Blow Your Mind (VIDEO)

Posted: Updated:

At the risk of sounding like your grandmother when she first discovered the internet, we have an announcement to make: "projection mapping" is pretty danged sweet. Our friends at the Denver Egotist run stories on projection mapping all the time, and despite the abundance, we hadn't the slightest as to what it was.

A video of projection mapping on the new Clyfford Still Museum in Denver makes us wish we'd learned sooner.

From what we can tell (see "your grandmother" disclaimer above), the process involves projecting light onto a surface, then using software to make the surface look really cool. A more technical definition, via Wikipedia, doesn't clarify much: "mapping three dimensional structures onto a two dimensional plane."

Perhaps the simplest explanation, then, are a couple examples.
