Tina Fey turns 42 today, and while she's no longer a Chicago resident, she's always spoken fondly of our dear city, where she spent some of her formative years studying comedy.
In a 2010 video blog, Fey praised Chicago's food scene and rattled off her favorite restaurants, raving about menu items she missed since relocating to New York. An impassioned endorsement of the Athenian Room's roasted chicken exploded their business in the days that followed.
Spending her formative years at improv comedy schools like the iO and the Second City, Fey met many of her future "Saturday Night Live" castmates on Chicago's streets, a fact she often brings up in interviews about her career's trajectory.
With the sad news that season 7 of "30 Rock" will be her last, we're especially thankful to Fey for having so much Chicago pride, even outside our city's boundaries.
