Moose On The Loose Triggers Police Chase In Utah

To catch a loose moose

LOGAN, Utah -- Utah wildlife officials say a moose went on a jaunt through neighborhoods north of Logan and triggered a police chase.

Division of Wildlife Resources officers tried to corner the wandering bull moose on Wednesday morning when the animal ran away. It was stopped when conservation officer Mark Burgess shot it with a tranquilizer dart.

Officers rolled the subdued moose in a large tarp and lifted him into a trailer.

Burgess says most of the moose calls that the department receives come in the winter, but a few come during the early spring.

Oh a Moose isnt something to kid around with...a buddy of mine took a Moose to the knee in "Nam...they sent him home in pieces.

For the love of god people...let the poor Moose go for a walk in the neighborhood.

See if that moose ever comes back to Logan again. Being treated like that....the indignity of it all. Typical cops....had to shoot something, knock it down and then drag it off to parts unknown. Probably filled those involved freezers with meat to last the whole year.

I never saw a moose in person. I saw one on TV years ago. It used to dance on the Captain Kangaroo show. I wonder whatever happenned to the moose?

I know this is a funny story but a moose is a very large animal and is not one to be fooled around with during certain times of the year but it does make for a cute story anyhow.

Take it from me, you do NOT want to confront a moose, especially a male in rut. They are tremendously big (as in tall) creatures and that rack he's sporting can gut you quicker than you can get your rifle.

Oh my God, yes. My cousin lives in the woods in Minnesota, has 25 acres and private lake and the moose come and go as they please, believe me. Only a tourist would try to pet a moose. And then be stomped to death.

This is treated like a fluff piece, but Moose are probably the single most dangerous animals in North America. A male in rut or a female protecting a calf? Look out.

Really? I live in Alaska and we have over 1500 moose in the Anchorage bowl. I would rather be around a moose than a bear any day. In fact, there was a moose next door this afternoon. No big deal.
