WATCH: 'Today' Host Leaves For ABC News

"Today" weekend anchor Amy Robach is leaving NBC News to join ABC News.

In a statement on Monday, ABC News president Ben Sherwood announced that Robach will be joining the network as a correspondent based in New York. He called her "a tenacious and skilled reporter" who will bring "engaging and high-impact journalism to all of our broadcasts and platforms."

Robach bid farewell to "Today" during her last show on Saturday, which was also Luke Russert's first day as newsreader. She teared up after co-host Lester Holt played some of her greatest hits over her nine years with the program.

"I just want to thank everybody for — I could not name everyone in the studio right now who have made when that alarm goes every Saturday morning worth getting up for," she said.
