This is a weird article...it explains little, and offers insight into nothing.

Was this woman fired because she did not fulfill her duties? Did she exceed the time off one is allotted by FMLA? What is the issue? If the firm waited through the FMLA period (16 weeks?), and she could not return to work, assuming her previous duties..then of course they have a right to hire someone else.

This isn't just about the ill person...firms have to do business.

Working people are a dime a dozen in this country.......if someone gets sick, instead of helping them out, they are fired and replaced by a healthy person.......

I blame the company she works for, not the government.

This is the Republican Solution to be mandated IF they get in office. Typical responses "she is costing us money so we'd better fire her" , or "oops, we made a mistake. she is too old, too sick, too xyz, so just email her that we found a more qualified employee"! More code words the better! Bettan than Scott Walker (WI) divide and conquer' strategy that the party pretends does not exist! B U S T E D!!!!!!!!!!!

Why is it up to the government to provide insurance for people?
05:12 PM on 05/21/2012
They don't need to provide insurance, they need to provide affordable insurance..........that means Regulations on Insurance Companies, so they don't take advantage of the weak and the poor............I take it you have insurance, what would you do if one day you were so sick you couldn't work, do you have $1000/month to pay for health insurance and enough money to pay all your living expenses plus all the co-pays and deductable.........kind of hard to pay all that when you are too sick to work..............

Better yet, what if your insurance carrier just dropped you when you got too expensive in a GOP world?
