Faith Online: Twitter Testimonies From HuffPost Religion Community

Last week, HuffPost Religion put out a call for testimonies of belief in 140 characters or less on Twitter. With the hashtag, #twittertestimony, we received a flood of powerful replies that showed the diversity of the HuffPost Religion community.

The Twitter testimonies ranged from tales of redemption after drug abuse to shifts in general spiritual perspectives. Some of the stories started with how a person was raised while others shared encounters with divine intervention or exploration of new spiritual texts.

In every case, there was a change, shift and a story to tell. Twitter Testimony continues. Everyone is invited to share their testimony in the comments or Tweet it to @HuffPostRelig

My Question today is why is all the unbelievers like to post on the religious section of the Huffington Post? My thinking is you are the non-believers are looking for God looking for that one word so the confusion can be ended Well read my postings both on the secular and the religious for you will find God is all in all.

Christianity is not mandatory, it is of faith, not sight. When someone wants
Jesus Christ,he will be there. He goes with us through this valley. He did not promise a rose garden.. One either accepts or rejects the Bible. Why worry about Jesus, the Bible if they are no more than Thor or Superman to you? Maybe it is a matter of confessing Him &getting on with it. When Adam & Eve fell, by choice & rebellion,, they came back by choice & obedience. God went , in person ,looking for them, wanted them back. He made the blessings curses of life to fall on the believing & unbelieving. He does not, build a protective wall around his people. Christians are to rebuke exhort ea other with all manner of longsuffering. We need a revival in America, starting with the heteros in the church.,of restoring & teaching the word of God.
Unbelievers are simply unbelievers. Christ came, to bridge the gap between our being sin &his Holiness. When you demand Christians be perfect that is copping out. PLEASE REMEMBER, hurting people, not all who say they are Christians are Christians & Christians hurt , also.

"When someone wants
Jesus Christ,he will be there."

No, he won't. He is only a character in a book.

While I hate to keep using this article, as I don't agree with everything Dr. Bart Ehrman has to say, even an atheist like him says Jesus wasn't "just a character in a book." I think you might find his article interesting and possibly informative. (see article below)

What a great god, 'helping' people who already have roofs over their head and food to eat, why doesn't he go make himself useful, cure aid, end world hunger, he could of put a recipe for anti-biotics in the Bible perhaps or a simple guide to safe mid-wifery.
If god is real, he needs to get his priorities sorted.
10:23 AM on 05/22/2012
No it is we who have our priorities wrong. God gave us free will and we have chosen and made the world in which we live by our actions. We have gotten we we deserve and created by our acts hatred and violence. It will only change when you and I change, not before. God calls us to love him by loving our neighbors. Our response (our choice) has been selfish and self-centered. The world changes when we pray, fast, and give up our surplus for the poor and needy. It's called social justice. Social justice precedes politics, not the other way around. (Like St. Paul in the Bible I talked too much, but I hope you see my point.)
10:38 PM on 05/22/2012
So are you saying God has no power on this earth or that he does, you say the world changes when we pray so I am a little confused...

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord.
“As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Hey Evangelicals, I'm perfectly comfortable with my understanding of and relationship with God. I'm not interested in yours.
Why is that so hard for you to grasp?
01:45 PM on 05/22/2012
Then why are you on the Religion page?

Perhaps because religion is so much a part of what is wrong with the world.

'Rfrye --cause the Bible says to go into the world and preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. Ergo : Christians follow the teachings of Christ -- well, most of them do -- There is a good solution to your problem - - don't listen. (free agency )

I know that when I go to channel 13 at 7:00pm, I will see what the good book told me. Your book, not so much.

When I began studying the Bible seriously in 1980, the lilies of the field metaphor attracted me - faith. In 2003, I became a homeless veteran and without faith I would have gotten very angry and never survived. Take a perusal at this post from my blog, it will explain a lot to you, what "They" don't tell you and what others dismiss.

The invitation has been given for "Huffers" to share their testimony. May I do so?

Huff comments have a single thread running through them, concerning religion and the existance of God and Christ. It is, PROVE IT ! Any one reading my comment may ask me to do so, and I will freely comply. ...As soon as they prove to me the color red is red. As soon as they can clearly DESRIBE the color red.. Proof of the existance of God and Christ come not from tactile proof, scientific proof, or testimony of a person or their writing. I for one am a believer, but there is absolutely nothing in what I have ever read, be it the Bible or the Book of Mormon that has proved God and Christ. They have all failed. No person has ever proven it to me- Not Billy Graham, not a great Rabbi, not Thomas S. Monson, a living prophet of God, on the earth today. All have failed magnifiscently at it. But though I have never seen God or Christ since I have been on earth, I do not have to to know they live and are real, for I have the faith to know that my proof has come from the sure word of prophesy, or, revelation from the third party of the God-Head, the Holy Ghost. That is my testimony, and I know it is true.

You have to prove it to yourself from personal experience, neighbor, by finding God in daily life.

I thank you for this, because I've found that God is a gut thing that I can't shake ... I could say to the approval of every atheist out there "There is no God" 150 times and, every time, my gut will tell me that I'm wrong. As for Christ, what He taught proves to me that He is who He said He is ... but all of this is subjective, right? But I've found that experiential learning might not be scientific, but people go by what they have lived.

For instance, no scientist has ever proved that people have souls, but who the heck would take it on the word of ANYONE ELSE whether or not they have a soul? Would you believe someone who told you that you didn't? Would them being a scientist matter, or are there some things that people just can't tell you about yourself ... Good testimony, friend.

GL - thnks for reply. As they say back home(Jersey) Youse is on the right track.
From my own experience, I tried what a couple of young men told me, and prayed to theFather in the name of the Son, and had quite an experience. Subjective? You bet it is
No one but you can determine the truth..

Why can't we just accept realization that we discovered a better option for a life style change within ourselves. Why must it be a divine intervention. When we're down, we know change is needed. The tools for change are innate. When we use them, we did it, not any type of "Pixe Dust".

How do you know there wasn't a divine prompting? After all you weren't there.

The drive of life requires living beings and organisms to "adapt or die", per Darwin. He documented his findings. How can mythology document anything? It has no roots!
09:34 PM on 05/21/2012
None of us were there. The Sun is rooted to the the stars and the Universe. The Earth and the Planets are rooted to the Universe. The Sun God is a theory created by fear of the unknown by prehistoric sorcerers--controlling fearful skeptics. Galileo's proven theory was put down by the Pope to be ignored under threat death. The holier than thou's controlling mythology today know only one word toward brilliant philosphies--"denial". All their power comes from the fearful who tithe to avoid Hell's fire and brimstone! God is only rooted in mythlogical heresay.

There are many who view that as divine intervention.
