Clearly Cheerios are not the breakfast food of choice for neglected toddlers.

Yesterday, 24-year-old Floridian Elton Jerome Davis Jr. allegedly abandoned his 18-month-old child in his home to go to work. According to the police report, the defendant left the toddler with a bowl of the General Mills cereal brand and some orange juice to keep him company.

An unidentified witness later found the child playing in an "active thoroughfare" with a dog, the report said.

Davis was charged by the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office with child neglect without great harm.
