The mother of a missing Arizona girl is defending her husband as "a great father" even though authorities have barred him from seeing their two other children.
Detectives will also visit registerred sex offenders with histories of targeting children, according to KPHO, as they try to solve Celis' disappearance. Her father Sergio Celis reported her missing on April 21.
Child welfare authorities stepped in last week and reached an agreement that Sergio Celis wouldn't have contact with his 10- and 14-year-old sons. It's unknown why the dad can't see his sons, but police confirmed that a protective services agency was called to the family's home last year.
To comply with the order, Sergio and his wife Rebecca Celis have separated. She has custody of their sons.
In remarks at a vigil last week to mark the one-month anniversary of Celis' abudction, she defended Sergio
"My husband's a great father," she said, according to KGUN. "He's a great husband, a great father to the boys and to Isabel. At the end of the day when Isabel comes home, everybody's questions will be answered.
Sergio told 911 operators that he discovered Isabel was gone from her bedroom when he went to wake her up. It appeared like an abduction to him, he said, because her window was open and a screen had been removed.
Sergio and his wife Rebecca Celis have cooperated with authorities and haven't been labeled suspects.

These parents want us to sympathize with them. Maybe she is protecting him because , he has something on her. They have secrets that they don't want people to know about. The sad part is that child will probably never be found.

You know I take it as a very bad sign when everyone automatically thinks it is the person or people closest to the victim that did it. Not everyone reacts the same way when something bad happens. Some will cry, some will rage, others go into shock, and some even into a cold fury that looks calm but blows on the first person to make the wrong action or comment. Without the police releasing why and only suspecting it makes it a little flimsy as to why they are. A lack of results shouldn't force them to make these kinds of decisions. All I care for is Isabel being safe. If he did do something than yeah punish him, but if not all that has been done is more hurt to a family already torn up by this tragedy. Focus on finding her not putting blame on anyone that looks plausible. Do that after she is back.
If, after all the info that was released by the police yesterday, the mom still stands by her man, then I truly believe the mom 'is in on it too', whatever 'it' may be. My gut tells me the 'wonderful father, husband, yak, yak," sold the beautiful girl ... who in turn ran for the border.

My ex was accused of doing something to his daughters. My children were taken from me, as they said he was a threat to them. We ended up divorcing over the issue. He was never convicted let alone charged with a crime. He was not allowed to have any contact with his two daughters or my son or daughter until they were 18. This all stemmed from an issue we reported to Child Protective Services regarding his daughters. At the time they were very clear at who was doing what and told CPS and the detectives. This did not make a difference. I do not trust CPS in doing the right or wrong thing either way.

I will tend to agree with you. Tucson CPS doesn't exactly have the best track record and children have died while under their so-called supervision. Now they are doing this knee jerk reaction since the case has gone global, IMO. I put vey little faith or trust into how they are handling this family.

I still do not believe either parent had anything to do with Isabel's disappearance. Stealing kids out of their own bedrooms is nothing new, unfortunately. Someone had plans, someone got to know the family or knew how to gain entrance. A vast population of predators exist in the world all around us...they live within our neighborhoods and I don't care if they've served their time...they will never change. And not every offender has been registered, especially if they are illegal in the first place and never imprisoned here. Mexico is my best guess. May God find this child and get her home!!

After the Susan Cox Powell incident in Utah (Susan Cox Powell vanished). And the total screw up by the police department for not arresting her husband Steven Powell (who was the suspect but not arrested) and later killed their children and himself. One cannot be to careful to protect the rest of the children.
It's unfortunate but necessary.

Now tell us something we DON'T know. The fater was barred when the fifth day of investigation started. He was then a suspect, but has still not been charged.

If the agency believes there is any reasonable danger by the father against the remaining childres, it is safer to have him avoid contact. They are certainly closer to the details of the family relationship than us readers are.

I wish that little girl well and that they find out exactly what happened and who is responsible for it all.
It is weird how the mother felt the need to assure authorities that the father was a good dad.
Something about the mother's statement strikes me as odd. I'd be frantic that my child is missing. Makes it seems like she's more concerned about clearing her husbands in saying he's a good dad and answers will be there when her daughter comes home. ".At the end of the day whenIsabel comes home". How can you say that? Don't know for sure is she will.. and that as mother would scare me. I wouldn't be able to say a statement like that sound so blase@".....At the end of the day when Isabel comes home, everybody's questions will be answered.
Both very suspicious. I'm thinking one of them is behind it.
