If Paul Ryan wasn't in Congress, he'd be failed adjunct, economics professor denied tenure at some third rate college in his home state. I am so looking forward to the day that the curtain rises to reveal his ridiculous plan for what it is, an exercise in futility that only a moribund party that wants to filibuster reality would endorse.

Ryan's budget slashes federal spending for our youth college Pell grants to attend college, cuts in food stamps for the poor and needy as well as unemployed Americans to make more Americans more like the hungry in the third world, and one of your best is that Medicaid for the poor, unemployed and disabled get more cuts, while continuing spending waste in defense even though Wars are ending but increase for foreign nation building and starting new wars! And his big favorite enchilada is for his 1% wealthiest of the “have it all’s” would continue to benefit disproportionately from the proposed tax cuts, as well as continue to the outsourced of American jobs to China! He proposes to give lower caps individual and corporate tax rates! And just like the past eight years of GW Bush, “Republicans say tax cuts lead to investment and job growth (for China),” just like we "experienced" during those same eight years of nearing economic depression years only job losses in USA! Paul Ryan's right track:

Reduce and possibly eliminate Medicare and create a voucher system.
Reduce support for food stamps.
Reduce support for returning vets.
Reduce support for education.
Reduce support for medicaid.

Increase the defense budget.
Decrease taxes for corporations.

Final tally....Huge increase in deficit,no jobs created, many more people uninsured, increase in the number of poor.

Clinton raised taxes, we had 23 million jobs created, a strong economy and left a surplus.

Bush cut taxes, we saw huge deficits, and zero net jobs created.

How do you define "failure." He's in the House. The House has passed a budget for both years it's been controlled by Republicans. The dem Senate hasn't passed a budget in over 3 years, as required by law.

The House, for which Ryan was elected, has passed numerous bills and sent them to the Senate, where they do nothing.

The House has passes legislation that benefits only a few Americans, or eliminates protections for many Americans. It is up to the Senate to protect us from their radical agenda.
Conversely, senate Republicans filibustered 100% of bills passed by the House, when the main goal was economic recovery.

Ryan's plan, has been shown mathematically to grow the deficit, diminish the social safety net, create no jobs, and increase the tax burden on everyone but the wealthy, who would see further reductions in their tax burden.

I'd say that plan fails the smell test.

The House passed 400 bills in President Obama's first two years, and the Republicans in the Senate filibustered most of them and wouldn't even discuss them. The House Democrats, btw, have a budget, one that actually does decrease the deficit far more quickly than Ryan's piece of trash, but Republicans aren't interested and won't hear of it. Anything Democrats do, they simply can't abide no matter how much sense it makes. I dare you to read about this budget and tell me it's a bad one. Yet Republicans want that piece of crap Ryan wants passed that would do nothing but harm everyone, except the rich, of course, their beloved so-called "job creators." AS IF!

The Republicans make claims about how the National Debt is killing us. How did we get there? When Carter's last budget ended 9-30-81 it was only $997 billion. When George W. Bush's last budget ended 9-30-09 it was $11.910 trillion. All of that was from Republican Presidents except for $1.4 trillion by Clinton. In addition Bush's tax cuts didn't end until 12-31-10 which raised it another $1.2 trillion Obama could do nothing about. How much of the increase under Obama is interest on the debt incurred by the Republicans. Why didn't the Republicans raise hell when they raised the debt ceiling over 20 times since Carter left office and now with Obama in office.

Because republicans intentionally create deficits when in power. It gives them something to complain about when they are not in power, and a reason to insist on cutting useful programs like SS, medicare, head start, etc. which they never supported in the first place.

Their useless policies and programs create deficits, they then use those deficits to eliminate useful democrat programs. Rinse, repeat.

Exactly. There's even a name for this tactic: The Republican strategy is called the "two Santa Claus" theory, proposed by Jude Wanniski after Goldwater was defeated. Republicans at that time realized they were always going to be at a disadvantage with the majority of voters because Democrats were sponsoring things like Social Security and Medicare. So Wanniski proposed the following: Republicans should "spend like drunken sailors" when in power, borrowing, lowering taxes, giving breaks to wealthy corporations and the like, and scream bloody murder about the deficit when Democrats are in power. - He promised to cut the Deficit in half during his first term but instead added more in three years ($5 Trillion) than Bush added in a full eight years.

- He said his $780 Billion "shovel ready jobs bill" would ensure unemployment did not go above 8% but since it passed unemployment has been above 8% for 39 STRAIGHT MONTHS

- His last three budgets have received ZERO votes from even the Democrats on the Hill.
Last year's budget voted down in the House 414-0
Earlier this year's budget voted down in the Senate 87-0
Earlier this month his latest attempt was voted down in the Senate 99-0

"Failed" is actually the KINDEST way to put it.

Obama reduced spending in his first budget year. It has since risen slightly. GW increased federal spending more than any other modern president, including Obama. GW created no jobs and left an economy in free-fall. The failure was GW Bush. It tales longer to create than to destroy, and GW gave us 8 years of destruction, Obama has had 3 years to rebuild from it. The republican plan is austerity, which does not work, it worsens an already depressed economy, as Europe is discovering the hard way, although many told them what would happen and were ignored. The republicans continue in their ignorance of reality. Ryan is the MC for their willful calculated ignorance.

The only reason the GOTP made gains in the 2010 elections is the simple fact that many Americans are too lazy to think things out as they should and think things are too easy to fix. We are in the worst economic downturn in 70 years and just because Obama hadn't fixed it in just TWO years, the American voters turn over the House, governorships and state houses to the GOTP. THE VERY PEOPLE MOST RESPONSIBLE FOR OUR ECONOMIC DOWNTURN!
It's like watching Lucy pull the football away from Charlie Brown. And, you notice, since taking these seats in the House, the governorships and state houses by promising JOBS, the GOTP promptly moved into social issues and social issues only. They are playing a deeply cynical game that helps no one and, based on the Ryan budget plan, will only lead us into a smaller, darker future.
