Katie Couric: Sarah Palin 'Has An Open Invitation' To New Talk Show

Katie Couric Wants To Interview Sarah Palin Again

Katie Couric wants to interview Sarah Palin again, she said on Monday.

The former "CBS Evening News" anchor extended an invitation to Palin while previewing her upcoming daytime talk show "Katie" in Orlando, according to The Orlando Sentinel.

"She has an open invitation to come talk to me," Couric said. "I'm not sure she'd be interested, but she'd certainly be welcome. She's a fascinating figure not only on the political scene but in popular culture."

Of course, it would be very surprising if Palin accepted the invitation. It has been nearly four years since she sat down with Couric for the infamous 2008 interviews that caused heavy damage to her reputation. Palin has spoken out against Couric on numerous occasions.

The two women also recently came head-to-head in the ratings war between the network morning shows. When "Good Morning America" announced that Couric would be filling in for Robin Roberts, "Today" retaliated by snagging Palin as guest host for a day.

Couric defended the interview on Monday. "I have no regrets about that interview," she said. "I don't need a do-over. I'm very proud I was doing my job, and when someone is running for the second highest office in the land, I think it's important to ask pointed, challenging questions, as I do for all candidates."
