Representative Democracy is all we have.

Interestingly enough I have now met a number of people who have served America well in distant places and have never stood still long enough to build up a decent pension or medical insurance. When they can begin to see old age not too far away and with it the prospect of medical bills they cannot afford, suddenly citizenship of a European nation seems much to be preferred. Glad the US can afford to lose them, as they seem decent people to me but, sure as God made little apples, they aren't going home to face up to poverty and disgrace.

I believe that one of government's jobs is caring for its people. That is called socialism by the conservatives. What then is Romney's form of government called? What kind of government would show disdain for its less fortunate citizens? What is the form of government called that wants to wage unending wars around the world in order to enrich its leaders? What kind of government forces its young people because of poverty to have to join the military in order to support their families? What kind of government wants to educate only its wealthy citizens? What kind of government suppresses voters? If the opposite of this government I've described is socialism ... well, I guess I'm a socialist. The Republicans have cleverly made the terms "liberal" and "socialist" as well as other terms denoting compassion into dirty epithets; and, those who would suffer the most under their fascist governing are led like sheeple by their religious leaders, to the polls to vote against their own best interests. Every protection of Bill of rights will apply only to those who call themselves Republicans. The goal of the GOP is to establish a permanent Republican Party. If they win the next election by just one vote, they will consider their win a mandate to do as they please to amass personal wealth for their leaders and their wealthy friends around the World. All this will come to pass within a few years of electing a Republican President and a Republican Congress.

He's got his, nobody else needs a thing, including medical care, according to his proposals.

No wonder he said, "If I tell you my plans, I'll lose".

I think he was finally right about something!

I believe I have found the source of the conservative, right-wing agenda for removing safety nets from the poor, elderly, the disabled and sick. The action is based upon three Gospel verses Matthew 13:12, Mark 4:25, and Luke 8:18 that says “Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what he thinks he has will be taken from him."

The choice to cut the safety net in order for some to be given more and to take away from those that do not have isn’t about wealth in scripture. Their usage of these words is a gross distortion of the real intent of the message. That is those that love (as in the kingdom of heaven), will be given more love and those that do not love (as in the kingdom of heaven), will lose what they think they do have.

God is not to be mocked and this is what they are doing.

The Romney vision:

No affordable health care for the middle class, packed public school classrooms, more wars (Iran and Russia), more "defense" spending, vouchers for Medicare, and slashed Social Security.

And he's in a dead heat with Obama?

Journalists, here's a project for you. Find out what percentage of the employees at Bain companies like Staples, Domino's, and Sports Authority have employer provided health care.

You know what's even more interesting than that issue?  Most of  those thousands of jobs are retail and thus low paying positions.

Exactly. Romney shipped the good paying factory jobs to China and replaced them with minimum wage/no benefits jobs.

Matthews' statement is pathetic. He is the weakest link on MSNBC. I wish they would replace him. Thanks.

quote:

Kansas City’s GST Steel was a successful company that had been making steel rods for 105 years when Mitt Romney and his partners took control in 1993. They cut corners and extracted profit from the business at every turn, placing it deeply in debt. When the company eventually declared bankruptcy, workers were denied their full pensions and health insurance, and the federal government was forced to step in and bail out the pension fund.

To be more precise, Bain forced GST to take on MORE debt and paid out millions of dollars of the loan proceeds as DIVIDENDS. If Bain was really interested in making GST successful or more successful, was that the right thing to do? No. Bain was interested in making money for itself, even at the expense of the long term health of the company.

News people like Anderson Cooper don't seem to be able to understand how Bain operated. I just saw him compare Bain with what Obama did with GM. Yes, both companies had to shed some employees, but Obama didn't strip out millions of dollars from GM and then walk away. He provided government money so GM could survive long term. With journalists like this, no wonder this country is in the shape it's in.

Corporations are comprised of employees who just happen to be people.

It infuriates me that Romney proposes leaving the upper crust untouched while going after those who need the assistance the most. It's beyond mindboggling how detached this man is.

The fact that you refer to people as "baggers" exposes your hate and ignorance.

Try getting an education and maybe you might become a useful member of society.
