Yearbook Porn? Photo In Lake Norman High School Yearbook Allegedly Shows Teen's Genitals

Yearbook Photo Allegedly Shows Teen's Genitals

School officials in North Carolina are looking into a yearbook photo that allegedly shows a student lifting her graduation gown and exposing her genitals.

The image in question features a group of students from last year's class posing in their graduation gowns. A female student has her gown raised up to her waist, exposing what at least one parent considers to be her genitals, WSOC reports.

The photo was printed in the Lake Norman High School yearbook, which was distributed to students last week.

"When it was brought to my attention from my child that, was the first thing. I was appalled! I was like, 'oh my God, this is exactly what it is," a mother who wished to remain unnamed told WJBF-TV. "It was going all over the school. In every block, I think people were texting each other turn to page 14."

But a representative from the Iredell-Statesville School District isn't quite convinced the image shows inappropriate content.

“Really looking at that image, we’re not sure that’s what it is at all. We think it was the way she was sitting and the angle of her gown,” spokesperson Dawn Creason told WSOC-TV.

The image certainly isn't the first to cause controversy after appearing in a high school yearbook.

Last year, an image of a wrestler exposing his genitals made it into roughly 300 copies of Washington's Central Kitsap High School yearbook.

The senior was not allowed to partake in graduation ceremonies and was forced to pay to correct the photo in the remaining 600 copies of the yearbook, KING 5 reports.

Earlier this year, 18-year-old Sydney Spies made headlines after yearbook advisers at Durango High School turned down the student's picture because it was too sexy.

The Colorado teen said she turned in three different photos, all of which were turned down by the staff, who then decided to use her school ID picture.
