UPDATE, 2:00pm: Police have identified the man accused of rushing the cockpit as 24-year-old Canadian Ryan Snider. Snider will most likely face federal charges of interfering with a flight crew, CNN reports. He is to head to court in Miami on Tuesday, ABC News reports.
Malik Cann, a trained body guard and passenger on the plane, told WSVN that once flight 320 landed, Snider got up out of his seat while the plane was still on the runway and started screaming, "Get me off the plane! Get me off the plane!" Flight attendants and 2 male passengers tried unsuccessfully to calm him down and Cann stepped in by locking Snider's arm behind his back.
CBS Miami is reporting that Miami Dade Police Detective Alvaro Zabaleta told the station that Snider was drunk.
PREVIOUSLY: A male passenger on an American Airlines flight was arrested on Friday morning for trying to storm the cockpit.
Authorities have the as-yet-unidentified passenger in custody after he tried to storm the cockpit on flight 320 from Montego Bay to Miami after the flight had already landed, WSVN reports.
Two male passengers reportedly restrained the man until authorities were able to come on board. There were 165 passengers on board the flight, according to the Associated Press.
American Airlines released a statement to WSVN saying, "After landing a passenger was not cooperating with crew member instructions and was acting suspiciously. Airport police were called and they removed the passenger from the plane." American Airlines said in a statement to CNN that the passenger was "disoriented" and stood up from his seat in the main cabin as the plane taxied to the tarmac. He then "moved toward the front of the aircraft where he was subdued," CNN reports.
Ronald Webb, a passenger on the flight, told WSVN: "He just ran to the front, pretty quickly...We were a little bit worried because we didn't know what it was all about. It was frightening with terrorism as it is these days."
The FBI is investigating and told WSVN in a statement: "We are aware of an incident on a plane in bound to MIA today (AA 320) in which a passenger reportedly rushed the cockpit door. The FBI is investigating the alleged incident, nevertheless the plane did land safely without damage to the plane or injuries."
