If I was President Obama I would hold this out as an election issue. If Mitt Romney has signed "the pledge" then I would trumpet to Gabriel that he cannot be President. Because in the Presidential oath you are sworn to execute faithfully the Office of President of the United States. How can you take that oath when you have sworn to Grover Norquist to partially not do your job? How can you elect someone like this? The Democratic Party does not have the right people running the national office because I would be all up in the Republicans about this one. They would have to answer to that.

Is it really true that the wannabe Republican candidate for President of the United States, Mitt Romney, also signed the Norquist pledge? Now that is more telling about what kind of president he would be than anything else he's done or said.

I sure wouldn't have interest in a candidate that has bowed at the feet of an activist that has nothing to do with me or other citizens in my district. I would want a legislator that represents me, not some guy with a ridiculous pledge. Besides, we should want elected officials that make their decisions based on each bill rather than deciding before being elected what they will and won't consider. Can't understand why anyone would want a representative like that. It's hard to believe what a profound impact this guy has had on our political system. Just who the heck is Grover Norquist and what business does he have making telling OUR elected officials what they can and cannot do? I would consider any elected official that submits to this man to be weak and a coward.

We should ask every candidate running for office whether or not he/she signed 'Gross'ver Norquist's pledge, and if so, automatically rule them unfit for office. We did not elect this private citizen, (Norquist) to elicit promises from our Elected officials which impact on us. Anyone wanting zero tax base, put it to a referendum.

Republicans swearing off Nories pledge?

Yeah, right. “Republican candidates declining to sign generally indicate that they nevertheless oppose tax hikes.” Quoted from The Washington Article link.

What is more likely is those republican candidates are simply waiting to be elected before actually signing it. We saw this behavior in 2010, and the slew of republican right-wing, conservative social issues passed after their jobs, and economy platform.

I don’t trust republican at all anymore.

Only in America can 1% of the budget (spent on welfare) be used to rally millions of people to agitate for the lowering of taxes for millionaires and billionaires against daily evidence that the government is vastly underfunded already.
