Michael Myrieckes Charged With Murdering His Roommates

South Side Man Charged With Murdering His Roommates

Updated story

While disagreements between roommates are often par for the course, police say a South Side Chicago man snapped and killed both of his housemates.

Police responded to a call around 9:20 p.m. Friday saying that a friend was threatening to kill his roommates on the 6500 block of South Kenwood Avenue, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. At the scene they found an armed man who refused to leave the apartment, and a SWAT team and the Police Department's Hostage Barricade Terrorist Incident Unit were called in.

About 30 minutes later, police arrested Michael Myrieckes, 52, and found the bodies of Lorrie Heidrick, 48, and Mario Tempana-Vena, 69, with multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Chicago Tribune. Inman and Sanchez shared the Woodlawn home with Myrieckes, according to police.

Myrieckes is scheduled to appear in bond court Sunday morning.

Police originally identified the victims by the aliases Lori Inman and Avelino Sanchez, according to the Chicago Tribune.
