After being turned down by nearly every team in the National Football League, HBO has finally found their team for Hard Knocks... the Miami Dolphins. The news was announced at a press conference by head coach Joe Philbin and realyed on the team's official Twitter page.

Miami Dolphins
Coach Philbin opened his press conference by announcing the team will be participating in HBO's Hard Knocks."

Honestly, it's a surprise that the news was revealed by the team, and not scooped by the Schefters and Glazers of the world. Considering the tepid reaction to the speculation of the Atlanta Falcons being featured on Hard Knocks, I can't imagine the 6-10 Dolphins would garner any more excitement. Aside from Reggie Bush, there aren't too many personalities on the roster that will want to make you set your DVRs. Then again, the series is so good that I'm sure it'll still be high quality and HBO/NFL Films will be able to give viewers a reason to watch. That, or we'll see a whole lot of Ryan Tannehill's wife, Lauren.

Update: This season's Hard Knocks debuts at 10 ET on August 7th and will air Tuesday nights for five weeks with the season finale September 4th according to HBO.

I hadn't really planned on watching, but then I remembered that the fine Nolan Carroll plays for Miami. Wait, he still plays for them, right? *runs to Google*

I love football for the colorful characters and human drama of it all. This show is the coolest thing ever. And reminds me that these are just very, very young men going through growing pains, like we all did/do at their age, albeit in the rarefied world of professional sports.

Despite what once was thought of as a flat ineffective slow and boring team, the miami dolphins are actually going through a HUGE transformation. Switching to WCO will do wonders for their production. Fans have been hitting themselves calling for quicker paced, more aggressive play and finally we have the coaches planning it. Outside of P. Manning's move and Tebow.. the dolphin's QB situation sits at the top of NFL news. So much has been said and slammed. With the choice of Tannehill KNOWING the WCO and competing against Moore for the starter job -- i believe it'll be more than just great HBO/NFL presentation that will draw viewership.

Though it would've been entertaining, the Jets were smart to turn this down. The last thing Ryan and his boys need is attention for anything other than winning football games.

Yeah, that's why they signed Tebow.

Yeah and they had a hell of a season after doing it, the same can be said for the Bengals after they did Hard Knocks.
