'Private Practice': Amy Brenneman Isn't Sure Shonda Rhimes Knows Whether Addison Will Say Yes To Marriage Proposal (VIDEO)

Amy Brenneman On The 'Private Practice' Proposal Cliffhanger

The Season 5 finale of "Private Practice" ended with a major cliffhanger when Dr. Sam Bennett proposed to Kate Walsh's character Dr. Addison Montgomery.

"Live! With Kelly" asked "Private Practice" actress Amy Brenneman the question on every "Private Practice" fan's mind: "Will Addison say yes?" Brenneman confessed that nobody in the cast knows the answer to that question, including, she theorized, the show's writer and creator Shonda Rhimes.

"We always ask Shonda like a month out, and then we've realized that she doesn't actually know, which is not a bad thing ... She's still writing it," Brenneman explained.

The actress was really on the show to talk up her new off-Broadway play "Rapture, Blister, Burn," which she says has been a new learning experience, due partially to the differences between performing love scenes for TV and live on stage.

Brenneman shared a story with Ripa about an awkward experience performing a steamy scene at a recent performance. "There were some elderly people like 3 feet away, like really close. I was like, ‘Oh, I’m going to be grinding in front of grandma, like, right there."
