In 2001, childhood friends Eric Ryan and Adam Lowry founded Method Products Inc., a maker of environmentally friendly cleaning and personal-care products in array of bright colors. The company became profitable five years later and today it generates more than $100 million in annual revenue. Its headquarters in downtown San Francisco span three floors of an office building in the heart of the city's financial district.
