• Perman Wine School

    Sip and Learn
There's something for every level of wine drinker, from novice to pro, in the new roster of classes from wine experts Craig Perman and Bill St. John. Get schooled on white Burgundy, American craft beer, Italian reds and more--and your next picnic or BYOB trip will taste better than ever.

  • Scofflaw

    Salads and Swizzles
There's more to this corner bar than dark wood and smart cocktails. Make a night of it by pairing your drinks with a parade of big-flavored small plates, like mizuna salad with avocado and ramp vinaigrette, a Gruyère grilled cheese packed with braised beef and caramelized onions, and a cold spring-vegetable terrine.

  • Milwaukee

    Your Next Day Trip
We love a good weekend eataway--and with a slew of new restaurants and bars, Milwaukee is prime for a day (or more) of food-focused exploration. On a recent trip, we visited four newcomers and said hello to a few old favorites too, picking up some excellent coffee, antique kitchenware and local charcuterie along the way.

  • City Provisions

    Deli Dinner
This small deli, stocked with local meat, craft beer and more, is Ravenswood's newest weekend dinner destination. Go Friday and Saturday nights for a multi-course, family-style meal crafted from whatever owner Cleetus Friedman has sourced from local farmers the day--or mere hours--before.

  • Eggys

    Wondrous Waffles
We're itching for another batch of Eggy's waffles. The new diner from the team behind Custom House Tavern is a bit off the beaten Downtown track. But the golden waffles are both airy and crisp, and the aioli-slathered breakfast sandwich is supremely flavorful. Both are well worth the detour into the quiet Lakeshore East complex.
