• Yunnan Dining

With not one, but two new restaurants focusing on the cuisine of China's most southwestern province, Yunnan dining is definitely having a moment. Try two takes on chrysanthemum greens salad, one with garlic and Chinese black-vinegar dressing at Lotus Blue Restaurant Bar in Tribeca, and the other with a slick of sesame paste and soy sauce at Yunnan Kitchen on the Lower East Side.

  • Pok Pok

You'll have to find Brooklyn's newest burgeoning neighborhood, the Columbia Street Waterfront District, to eat at Pok Pok. However, once you try all the spicy-sour-salty-sweet flavors spread across the dishes at this white-hot restaurant from Portland, all grumbling about travel will vanish.

  • Cocktails at The NoMad

Lots of attention is being paid to the Eleven Madison Park team's new restaurant within the NoMad Hotel. We think the food is fine and dandy, but we urge you to look towards bartender Leo Robitschek's bar, cocktails and custom bar cart for the real show.

  • Escape to the New Jersey-Pennsylvania Border

Take your dining on the road with a trip to the riverside towns of Stockton and Lambertville, New Jersey, and New Hope, Pennsylvania. Plenty of opportunities for outdoor adventure await, along with road fuel in the form of caramelized Belgian waffles, raw-milk-cheese, BBQ, iced coffee and soft-serve ice cream.

  • Il Buco

While we are wild about the new Il Buco Alimentari and Vineria, a recent visit to the almost two-decades-old original, Il Buco, proved that this kitchen is still turning out seasonal Italian food with love. Must-orders include any pasta that catches your fancy (you can't go wrong), the kale salad and the signature prawns.
