Bacon Dessert Recipes (PHOTOS)

Bacon has a large, loyal fan base that has a deep love for this breakfast meat. People just can't get enough of it. So it's only natural that it would move beyond its stationary role on burgers and alongside eggs to more creative dishes. And along this culinary journey, bacon has made its way into desserts -- and we hope it's here to stay. From bacon ice cream to bacon buttermilk cupcakes to bacon chocolate chip cookies, the smokiness of the meat balances out sweetness of dessert just right. Check out the recipes below.

My personal favorite recipe is to add bacon to bacon! Can't beat that!

Bacon: how to make just about any food unhealthier in no time! Instead of a piece of fruit, put bacon in your cupcakes! Bacon in your milkshake! Feed more bacon to your kids!

This slideshow would be funny for its excess if so many people weren't dying from this way of eating.

You are what I call a food nazi. Be concerned for your own health, not everyone else's. Let the individual make their own choices as to what to eat or not. Personally, I think the whole idea of bacon as part of a dessert is idiotic, but thaty's me. Let everyone choose for themselves.

There must be a counterbalance to the extreme food culture that is killing so many Americans. When this extreme becomes the new normal, then we need more voices saying no, this is not okay. When the knee-jerk reaction is to call everyone who disagrees with you a nazi (or a communist, or a socialist, or whichever of these empty insults you might choose), then no discussion is possible.

as much as I'm a health nut myself, those bacon ideas are irresistible

It's not the bacon that's killing them. It's the lazy life style choices so many people are making today, to not be active anymore.

You are CORRECT.

Agreed that people would be far healthier with more active lifestyles.

Brought to you by the pork industry and their massive CAFOs (concentrated animal feeding operations). Folks, we got lots and lots of extra pigs and lakefuls of swine manure and we don't know what to do with either of them, so come on in to your local supermarket and pick up as much bacon as you can carry. It's perfectly healthy for you, if you don't mind getting overweight real quick and developing serious diseases.

What IS it with this sliced-up-pig-that-has-been-tortured-its-entire-life cadaver obsession ?

People have taken bacon to a different level these days.
After all, its just bacon.
