Two polls out with Obama up by 8. Very interesting, I was expecting the opposite following the jobs report. I'm hoping, (though I'm very doubtful) that people will start to hold BOTH parties responsible for the economy instead of preparing to reward one party for sabotaging the efforts of another party to get it on track. If there's no political gain for a bad economy, one way or another, maybe that will get these folks to start working together and getting things done.

Pew poll out with Obama up by 8 as well. That makes a twofer. As far as this ppp poll oversampling Dems, Obama's approval rating appears spot on in it.

Well, I like the poll, but I wouldn't place much stock into the seemingly dramatic swing towards Obama without a few other polls to back it up.

Probably nothing to see here. More interesting is the lack of movement in Obama approval or Obama/Romney head to head on the 2 national trackers following the "catastrophic" jobs report. I'm beginning to think that even at this early date that there are almost no real undecideds out there to be swayed, and that this is going a simple turnout war.

Unlike something like bin laden news, this takes a while to filter through to the general public, and the economy really is slowing, and as far as the limited ranks of undecideds go, that may be true, but the battle will be won and lost with enthusiasm. Being decided about who you support is one thing. Turning out to vote is another.

The WI recall may actually provide some direction here. There were almost no undecideds going into the final week, about 94% had made up their mind quite a bit prior to that election.

It's bad when people vote reflexively like that.

Perhaps lost in all the Wisconsin hoopla is that California Republicans today might nominate Orly Taitz to challenge Senator Feinstein, handing a huge national platform to the "Place of Birth Movement" which his grab headlines, embarrass Republicans, and turn off independent voters nationwide all the way to November. It could be that this development is more important to the presidential election than whether Governor Walker retains his seat or not.

Yeah, I am voting for her in a couple of hours. Mainly, because hers is the only name of 14 Repubs on the ballot that I recognized, but also just for fun.

The rest of your spin is just grasping at straws. Nobody cares who CA GOP votes for.

I wouldn't be so sure about that.  It's not like she'd be stuck out in Wyoming or something.  If she's the nominee she'll have a huge coterie of media hanging on her every utterance all the way to election day and the national Republican Party will have to disavow their own Senate candidate in the largest state in the union.

Fellow Lefties: Watch out! The war has just begun! Karl Rove wants to huff and puff and blow our houses down, but I think these lies are only going to believed for just so long.

This poll shows some movement towards Obama and in favor of the Democrats at the congressional level. Perhaps, it is starting to frustrate moderates that some of the things we warned them about in 2010, might be resonating. I don't know, but I don't think that a party line vote against the equal pay law is going to help Romney's case that there is no war against women rights.
