Nobody wants to hear the words "Man overboard!" when on the open waters, but it's even more terrible when navigating the freezing waters of the Bering Sea. So it's understandable that the crew of the Time Bandit moved quickly with very vocal concern after one of their deckhands fell into the icy waters on "Deadliest Catch" (Tue., 9 p.m. ET on Discovery).
The quick thinking and work of the crew managed to pull him out of the water in just a few minutes, but it doesn't take long in waters at those low temperatures for the human body to start feeling the effects. Even after such a short span of time, Travis suffered hypothermia.
Luckily, though, he didn't go into shock and was able to recover normally. While viewers are used to more dramatic dangers on the seas during "Deadliest Catch," they were nevertheless breathless waiting to see if Travis would be okay. It may not be as exciting as getting smashed by mountainous waves, but it was no less dangerous or potentially deadly.
