Stanley Cup Final
Game 4
Los Angeles Kings vs. New Jersey Devils
Staples Center
Los Angeles, California
June 6, 2012, 8:00 PM EST
Will the Stanley Cup be lifted tonight? Before their home crowd, the Los Angeles Kings will try to finish off the New Jersey Devils in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final, which would make it the first Final sweep since 1998 (Red Wins over Capitals).
Given the Kings' recent dominant form, some out there may have forgotten that they were seeded eighth in the West when the playoffs began. Getting hot (and starting to find the opposition's net) at the right time, the Kings have lost just two games thus far and stand just one win away from the first championship in franchise history. Led by a goaltender so otherworldly that the Men In Black should look into this, L.A. ousted the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 seeds in the West.
Can the Devils stop tonight from becoming a coronation? New Jersey looked demoralized in Game 3, after those two overtime losses at home. They will need a miracle to pull off such a comeback to take home the Cup, something only three teams have ever done in NHL postseason history (one in the Final). But tonight their goal will just be force one more game.
Can New Jersey stave off elimination? Or will the Kings complete the sweep and hold up the Cup?

| @ helenenothelen : in one game devils match goal total of previous three games against #lakings. |
Quick makes a big save with 40 seconds left in the PP. Devils putting the pressure on. Kings fans are quiet.
|
| @ wyshynski : Oh great, now Kovalchuk is blind and crippled. Get him a pair of earmuffs and a pinball machine. |
Mitchell lets his stick come up and hits Kovalchuk. That'll be 2 minutes for high sticking. Devils go on the PP.
|
| @ ESPN_Burnside : Nice play by Clarkson as he feeds Henrique who rips a shot that appeared to go in off the post to give Devils 2-1 lead with 4:29 left. |
|
| @ DaveLozo : Henrique, who said yesterday the Devils can come back from down 3-0, puts the Devils ahead 2-1 with 4:29 left. #NJDLAK |
|
| @ RothmanHockey : It's about time one of the #Devils skill players joined the party this series. Henrique with a sick snipe. Devils lead #Kings 2-1, 4:29 left |
DEVILS STRIKE AGAIN!
Henrique received a beautiful pass on the left side on a 2-on-1 and fires it past Quick's right shoulder and into the net. 2-1 NEW JERSEY!
Brown got the puck on the right side and fired a shot that deflected off Brodeur and right to Kopitar but he misfires on the shot. 5:15 to go.
Parise hurt his foot before the last whistle and skated gingerly off the ice. He looked like he was in a lot of pain sitting on the bench.
Penner gets the puck on a breakaway with nobody around him but he can't get it past Brodeur.
|
| @ KenDaneykoMSG : Ref should be ashamed, in a SC final u call that, just ridiculous! @NHL |
|
| @ drosennhl : Faceoff win by Kopitar, gets puck back to Richards, who passed across the points to Doughty for the blast that got through. |
|
| @ DaveLozo : And we're tied. Kings PP goal off the draw. 1-1. Clarkson went off for a dubious boarding call. Doughty ripped it. #NJDLAK |
