Billionaire Sheldon Adelson Signals $1 Million Donation To Romney-Allied Super PAC

Nevada billionaire Sheldon Adelson will donate at least $1 million to the Mitt Romney-affiliated super PAC Restore Our Future, Politico reports. Romney secured the coveted Republican donor's support during a meeting in Las Vegas last month that lasted 45 minutes.

Romney hasn't been the only one courting the casino magnate, who previously poured $20 million into the pro-Newt Gingrich super PAC Winning Our Future. Adelson also met with Rudy Giuliani and veteran operative Arthur Finkelstein in New York to discuss the possibility of a new super PAC to help the GOP retake control of the Senate. In addition, he has reportedly pledged a multimillion-dollar donation to either one of Karl Rove's ventures, Crossroads GPS or American Crossroads.

Adelson's donations have made him the all-time leader in donations to independent spending groups. His contributions are a reflection of the record spending this cycle, propelled largely by the explosion of super PACs.

Adelson had indicated as far back as February that he would provide generous support to Romney if he secured the Republican nomination. A spokesman for Adelson did not return request for comment.
