"Homeland" is getting a new face. According to EW, Valerie Cruz will guest star in Season 2 as Major Joy Mendez. Viewers may remember Cruz from "Dexter," "True Blood" and "Alphas."
Cruz's role is currently just a guest spot, but it could become recurring. Her character will accompany Carrie (Claire Danes) on a mission in Beirut.
"Homeland" Season 2 will also feature "Rome" veteran Zuleikha Robinson. She'll play a journalist, Roya Hammad, who has ties to a terrorist organization.
The new season of "Homeland" promises answers and kicks off Sept. 30, 10 p.m. ET on Showtime.
In other casting news ...
Matt Gerald has booked a multi-episode arch on "Dexter." Gerald, who also appears in ABC's "Last Resort" this fall, will play a blue-collar violent criminal. [EW]
Rocky Carroll is returning to "NCIS." The veteran actor will be back for Season 10. [TVLine]
Greg Grunberg is stopping by "Baby Daddy." The "Heroes" veteran will guest star as Ben's absentee father. [TVLine]
