WASHINGTON -- It's fun to dress up in nice clothes and pretend you live in a Fitzgerald novel. The folks that participate in the annual Seersucker Social wear some of the finest threads in a stylish way.
This past Saturday's sold-out event at the Hillwood Estate, Museum and Gardens gave some willing and hip D.C.-area residents the chance to bicycle their way into a bygone era. Performances from Dandy Wellington and his band as well as picnicking, croquet and badminton helped transport a group of twentysomethings to the 1920s.
Presented by Dandies and Quaintrelles, the Seersucker Social is becoming a local tradition and photo op. The group hosts events regularly, from fashion shows to Dandy parties.
