The great-uncles used to make something called birch beer when I was a little girl. Put it up in small kegs and kept it cool in the root cellar. It was rich and delicious like no root beer I've ever tasted. Wish I had the recipe.

Birch beer is great, but its very very intense! There is a brand that sells it in America (I don't live there anymore, and root beers and birch beers are barely heard of here) and it's called Virgil's. They sell great root beer and birch beer. Give a try and see if its anything like your family's recipe!

We use to make root beer every summer growing up. Unfortunately, we didn't know what we were doing, and so the results were wildly inconsistent. This made for some interesting results, as every container had a different taste.

I make blueberry soda the easy way. It's half club soda and half blueberry syrup. You can get the syrup in Middle Eastern markets. It's by the tamarind syrup and rose water. It's really delicious! Great with sliced lemons too.
