When celebrities do just about anything vaguely meaningful with non-celebrities, we can't seem to get enough of it (for proof, see here, here, here and here). We're not sure exactly why that is; perhaps it helps us to imagine how we ordinary people (okay, plebes) may one day figure in stars' larger-than-life existences.

So when celebrities actually ditch their star companions for one of us plebes, it's not only the best kind of schadenfreude, but proof that our daydreams really can come true.

    A-list actress Julia Roberts had been dating "Law & Order" actor Benjamin Bratt for <a href="http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,622179,00.html" target="_hplink">nearly four years</a> when <a href="http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,628189_3,00.html" target="_hplink">she met Danny Moder</a>, a cameraman, on the set of "The Mexican" in 2000. Despite the fact that Roberts had been involved with countless celebs before (she was <a href="http://www.people.com/people/archive/article/0,,20115436,00.html" target="_hplink">once engaged</a> to Kiefer Sutherland), the "Pretty Woman" actress fell in love with Moder. Roberts soon dumped Bratt and married Moder.

  • Kelsey Grammer

    Actor Kelsey Grammer left his wife, "Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills" star Camille Grammer, shortly after meeting Kayte Walsh, <a href="http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1302340/Kayte-Walsh-British-air-hostess-having-Kelsey-Grammers-baby.html" target="_hplink">a British flight attendant 25 years his junior</a> in 2010. Camille <a href="http://www.tvguide.com/News/Kelsey-Grammer-Divorce-1020130.aspx" target="_hplink">filed for divorce</a> in July 2010, and the Grammers' <a href="http://www.tmz.com/2011/02/10/kelsey-grammer-camille-grammer-divorce-finalized-property-settlement-court-real-housewives-of-beverly-hills/" target="_hplink">split was finalized in February 2011</a>. Kelsey Grammer <a href="http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20469369,00.html" target="_hplink">married Walsh just two weeks</a> later.

  • Ethan Hawke

    Actor Ethan Hawke's seven year marriage to actress Uma Thurman ended in 2004 when <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/02/10/ethan-hawke-the-period-fo_n_1269239.html" target="_hplink">rumors of Hawke's affair</a> with the couple's then-nanny, Ryan Shawhughes, emerged. In July 2008, Hawke <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/07/10/ethan-hawke-weds-former-n_n_111874.html" target="_hplink">married Shawhughes</a>, with whom he now has two children: Clementine, 3, and six-month-old Indiana.

  • Usher

    Rumor has it that singer Usher <a href="http://www.people.com/people/archive/article/0,,20149882,00.html" target="_hplink">was still in a relationship </a>with Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas, formerly of the group TLC, when he cheated on her with Tameka Foster, a stylist, in 2004. That year, he broke up with Chilli, who <a href="http://www.people.com/people/archive/article/0,,20149882,00.html" target="_hplink"> told <em>People</em> magazine of the split</a>: "He portrayed himself as faithful, and he wasn't. I could never be with him ever again." Usher married Foster in 2007, but the pair <a href="http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1646726/usher-opens-up-about-marriage-tameka-foster.jhtml" target="_hplink">called it quits</a> in 2009.

  • Nicolas Cage

    Actor, producer and director Nicolas Cage had just <a href="http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,642162,00.html" target="_hplink">recently finalized </a>his divorce to <a href="http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,642162,00.html" target="_hplink">Lisa Marie Presley</a> in 2004 when he met former waitress Alice Kim in <a href="http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,674842,00.html" target="_hplink">February 2005</a>. At the time, Cage was 40-years-old, and Kim was half the actor's age. The couple fell in love quickly and <a href="http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,674842,00.html" target="_hplink">wed on a private ranch in Northern California</a> in August of that year. They currently have one son together, <a href="http://justjared.buzznet.com/2007/08/13/kal-el-cage-nicolas-cage/" target="_hplink">Kal-El</a> (yes, named after Superman.) Cage had also previously been married to actress <a href="http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20130707,00.html" target="_hplink">Patricia Arquette</a>.
