The ongoing Cubs vs. Sox showdown between Nick Offerman and Craig Robinson entered its third round with the Monday release of a spot that takes the men's rivalry, the subject of a New Era ad campaign, to a new, musical level.
In their latest spot, Offerman and Robinson, best known for their roles of Ron Swanson ("Parks and Recreation") and Darryl Philbin ("The Office"), contemplate who can sign "Take Me Out To The Ball Game" better while sitting in a fictional Chicago bar called The Dividing Line.
Offerman's rendition of the seventh-inning stretch anthem leaves a little something to be desired while Robinson's may come as a bit of a surprise.
Offerman, a Cubs fan who was born and raised in Illinois and got his comedy start in Chicago, was recently in town for a packed, two-show "American Ham" engagement at the Vic Theatre as part of the Just For Laughs festival. The Chicago Tribune noted that his performance, which included more than a fair share of music as well, was "hard not to admire."
