Last Thursday, music fans and hip cultural aficionados convened in North Brooklyn at some of the neighborhood's favorite music venues for 2012's Northside Festival.
The sprawling, one week celebration kicked off with the festival's opening concert on Friday at McCarren Park with Jens Lekman, Of Montreal, The Thermals, and Beach Fossils.
Rolling Stone attended the concert which included belting out lyrics about stalking Kirsten Dunst, new tracks from Jens Lekman, and a stage cavalcade of "ninjas, Mexican wrestlers, superheroes, referees, white birds, well-endowed and glittering swamp women."
Northside will continue its takeover this week with a litany of film screenings, art shows, and of course, music. For more on the festival's schedule, check out their list here.
