John King, on-air personality and spokesman of Save White People, is no stranger to internet fame. The footage of his protest at Kentuckiana's Gay Pride Parade, however, is sparking outrage after event goers reacted to the sign King carried.
"Tyler Clementi did the world a favor! Honor in death," the sign read, referring to the Rutgers University student who killed himself last fall after being secretly videotaped by his roommate, Dharun Ravi. "He will never bugger my 8-year-old son!"
As well as yelling obscenities at parade patrons, King leveled statements such as "take your sodomy to another galaxy" and "the anus is a sewer, not a playground" -- much to the dismay of parade-goers with children.
King's protest comes in the wake of a flurry of offensive comments from right-wing pundits and pastors. Earlier this year, Pastor Patrick Wooden, a prominent North Carolina pastor, triggered a backlash when, in a discussion with Americans For Truth About Homosexuality's (AFTAH) Peter LaBarbera, he said homosexual men have to "wear a diaper" due to "what happes to the male anus" after anal intercourse.
"Who wants to practice anything that is going to ultimately lead a grown man," Wooden elaborated. "To about the time he’s in his 40s or 50s, or what not, having to wear a diaper or a 'butt plug' just to be able to contain their bowels?"
