"Dredd," which was announced back in 2010 and given its Sept. 21, 2012 release date last July, finally has its trailer. The post-apocalyptic comic book adaptation focuses on the title law keeper (Karl Urban), who must infiltrate an apartment complex to stop a villainous drug lord (Lena Headey).
If that sounds vaguely familiar, that's because you've seen Gareth Evans' 2011 Indonesian action film "The Raid," which had a similar plot. No matter for "Dredd," though, which probably won't have a very difficult time topping the first film based on the British comic character: "Judge Dredd," a disastrous 1995 film with Sylvester Stallone in the lead role.
Pete Travis ("Vantage Point") directs "Dredd," which also co-stars Olivia Thirlby as Dredd's plucky young partner.
Look for "Dredd" -- in 3D and super slow motion -- in theaters on Sept. 21. Watch the trailer above.
