Though the Chicago area has seen more than its fair share of dog-day afternoons so far this month, it was news to us that June is actually national Adopt-A-Cat Month.

Luckily enough, June isn't quite over -- so there's still plenty of time to head to a local shelter and partake in the holiday.

Continuing our weekly series, HuffPost picked out a number of furry feline friends among the latest group of area cats, dogs and rabbits up for adoption at a variety of shelters located throughout the Chicago area. To our knowledge, they've all been spayed or neutered and are up to date with their vaccinations.

If this slideshow doesn't satisfy your cute animal fix, be sure to check out past features linked below the gallery either by scrolling down or clicking here. Many of the previously featured animals remain homeless.
