Johanna Mason: 'Hunger Games: Catching Fire' Eyes Mia Wasikowska & Zoe Aggeliki For Key Role

Will She Play Johanna In 'Hunger Games' Sequel?

Johanna Mason may look a little like Jane Eyre. According to the Indiewire blog The Playlist, "Jane Eyre" actress Mia Wasikowska and Zoe Aggeliki are on the short list of contenders to play Johanna in "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire," the highly anticipated follow-up to "The Hunger Games."

In the Suzanne Collins-penned novels, Johanna is the last surviving female Hunger Games victor from District 7. (Which Games she conquered isn't known.) She meets Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) before the 75th Hunger Games and forms an uneasy bond with the bow-and-arrow wielding heroine. Johanna is also friendly with Finnick Odair, a role producers are also still trying to cast. Taylor Kitsch, Armie Hammer, Robert Pattinson and Garrett Hedlund were all rumored at one point or another to play Finnick.

While Wasikowska is slightly older than Lawrence, she doesn't necessarily seem right for the part on first glance. Johanna has a strong-willed sexuality in the books, something that the "Alice in Wonderland" star has yet to exhibit onscreen. (Someone like "Shameless" star Emmy Rossum might be a better fit for Johanna.)

Aggeliki is a newcomer to the scene, but has a supporting role in "R.I.P.D.," a supernatural action comedy with Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges. That film is due in theaters next summer.
