This is old news that won't ever change.
There were companies that sold machine guns to the British and Germans at the same time during WWI.

The US lost it's moral authority when we invaded a country based on lies, our President authorized torturing enemy combatants and nothing was done about it. With a code of ethics as thin as ours it is not surprising that we would come across as hypocrites accusing nations on one hand while selling them weapons so they can do even more. We care way more about making the all mighty buck way more than we care about being a beacon of light in a dark world.

The US is the largest arms dealer in the World. It’s about the only thing we export anymore besides pick up trucks and computer chips. Everything else is manufactured abroad and sold back to US consumers. The blue collar middle class jobs are gone and they are not coming back. Don’t blame Repubs or Dems as every Administration since Nixon has allowed the outsourcing of jobs to Countries with cheaper labor and questionable business practices.

Great point. It is manufactured abroad by Americans who hire cheap labor and then sell it to Americans at premium costs. Then these same Americans lobby congress to give them an opportunity to bring those billions of dollars back into the US without the tax burden that they suppose to. Money talks and everything else takes a back seat.

To be honest when you look hard enough you won't find a single country that doesn't have "human rights violations." At least, none that would actually want the weapons. So as much as I think the policy's heart is in the right place, I don't think it will be very successful.

While our federal government remains the #1 dealer of doom, destruction, and death on the planet (which US taxpayers make possible), an ever-growing number of Americans languish in poverty, joblessness, and homelessness at the same time social safety nets are being threatened, Vets are going forgotten, education continues its downward spiral, infrastructure crumbles, and global warming goes unabated and ignored by a nation which claims itself to be the greatest nation in the world.

Any government who would, by the selling of arms, contribute and allow such horrors to occur for millions of other human beings across the globe is by no means a great nation, but a nation which has gone grossly awry.

If our federal government is representative of who we are, what we stand for, then what have we become and is this what we choose to continue to be?

We stand passively by while our nation does this in our name. That sounds like enabling. We citizens cannot separate ourselves from our government and military. We own them and their actions.
