'Stage', Pro-Obama Ad, Targets Romney Over Bain

06/23/12 06:49 PM ET  AP

WASHINGTON -- A political committee supporting President Barack Obama is out with a new ad accusing Mitt Romney of making millions while shutting down an Indiana paper plant.

The ad, from Priorities USA Action, is the latest in a series attacking Romney's record at the investment firm Bain Capital. The group says it's spending $10 million to air a total of four ads in Colorado, Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia.

The new ad features an employee of the AMPAD plant in Marion, Ind., Mike Earnest, recalling being told to build a stage from which company officials later announced mass layoffs. He says, "It was like building my own coffin."

Romney aides contend AMPAD was in a struggling business to begin with, and Bain overall created many more jobs than were lost.

Among the many things that concerns me about Gov. Romney becoming President is his seeming inability to react to immediate need and immediate demand. The Presidency is a position wherein the phone does ring at three AM, the Towers blow up in front of a terrified world at 10 and a blip in the market causes huge losses at 2:55 PM. A President doesn't have the luxury of convening a meeting, delegating s study  Read More...

WOW!!! See I live in a very very blue state, a state that would have to be violently thrown over and it's citizen's killed for it not to go to Obama. So I have not seen any ads at all during the campaign season. This was a devastatingly powerful ad....one of the best I have ever seen. A campaign just HAS to respond to that. To think that a candidate can ignore that kind of ad is the height of hubris. Mitt what's his name gets a big FAIL.

Romney built nothing. He had "capital" (borrowing connections) and bought what others built, with debt, not capital. This is not the capitalism Americans revere, is it?

Romney and his Buds are gambling on doing a "leveraged by-out" of America. They are gambling about $900 million on this election because if they are successful, The US Treasury will be at their disposal.

Don't get me wrong--- this isn't really a Republican thing. The Republicans have been bought and paid for by Wall Street and the mega-rich. They are simply doing what they are ordered to do-----what they are PAID to do. And money is everything to them.

Oh--- I know some of you think this is silly talk. It's hard to believe that people would actually try to do something like this (take over Govt. and raid the treasury). But Obama is the one thing standing in their way with his Veto power. We need to keep that veto power in place in a time when Republicans are willing to do anything to win----even interfering with peoples right to vote.

Corporations and the Mega-Rich are taking Billions out of The Treasury right now. It's not called Welfare or Food Stamps----- but it IS a "redistribution" of money FROM the average person (99%) TO the Wealthy. And as you can easily see from the example of Romney himself---- NO amount of money is NEVER ENOUGH.

Would Romney buy stock in Romney?

Over at Intrade Romney for President is selling for $2.70 today. That is down from $4.40 just a month ago. "Romney" has lost 39% of it's value in the last month.

If Bain Capital acquired "Romney for President" it would outsource it's candidate to China.

But then again, with Romney's money in Chinese factories and Chinese Oil, Mitt already is the Manchurian Candidate

Mitt Romney and Bain Capital are EVIL. They toss aside people's lives to chase their god - the dollar. Sure they make more jobs - in China, India, and elsewhere other than in America. Mitt Romney cost the jobs of Americans.

Shame on you, Mitt Romney.

I love this:

"Bain overall created many more jobs than were lost."

Yet they never showed the numbers.

Bain wasn't a vulture, it was a predator. Romney was it's stalker and chief.

Even with many of the so-called struggling companies, Bain put in very little cash on the front end, loaded up the cmplaines with to debt to get back their investment plus profit and left the companies to die on the vine often through bankrupcy. Those profits went directly to Bains bottomline and were divided among the partners and Romney even long after he "retired." Just look at how the handled KB Toy and Hobby.

Romney never invested his own money. and Obama never went into anything to make money for himself... With Mitt you are talking about millions .... The jobs he braggs about are low wage jobs. The kind that used to be for our high school and college age, after school and summer jobs for kids. Thats the world Mitt wants for the rest of us.

Documented: BAIN started with Romney's OWN money. I realize that for Obama hold outs for socialism incarnate and progressive idealism that it seems impossible for someone to make money with their own money. You folks, on the other hand , just like Euro bankrupt ideology, like utilizing taxpayer money.

How could have missed the beloved Mittens saying:

"I didn't invest my church's pension because I didn't want to go to hell."

Instead he found other investors, Romney says so himself:

"I owe a great deal to Americans of Latin American descent. When I was starting my business, I came to Miami to find partners that would believe in me and that would finance my enterprise. My partners were Ricardo Poma, Miguel Dueñas, Pancho Soler, Frank Kardonski, and Diego Ribadeneira."

It's a mere coincidence that some of them are linked to death squads:

Gee, just like Obama, Romney invested tax payer money in a business venture and it failed.

OOPs I am sorry Obama used taxpayer money----Romney had to cough up his own money---it bit tougher to do!

Romney is a coward that never invested one cent of his own money.  Even Bain Capital's existence was funded by someone else.

Romney is a coward, that's why he can't answer a journalist without checking with his handlers.  If he is elected, I assure you he won't be making the decisions.  You will be handing this country back to the brilliant Neocons that took us into two wars, while handing out tax credits.

To quote the worker "Romney made $100 on the liquidation"-
Since it happened while he was at the Olympics job, not at Bain that was a lie.
The firm made the investment and made $100 from a failing company that Bain kept afloat for over 10 years. Obama is batting ZERO on his investments.

When Romney went to work on the Olympics he was on a leave from Bain. He didn't officially retire until two years later just before he ran for governor. Romney continued to get shares of the deals until at least 2009, as negotiated in his retirement package.

Again, wrong you are wrong on the facts.

The worker said "romney" . I said the firm made the profit. Apparently sucking up to the marxist makes you blind.

Retirement package could be funded thru BAIN selling lemonade-big deal! Your hero is still batting ZERO on his investments--check the prospects for his banks , car companies and Solar and Wind mill companies.
