Cher tweeted Monday that producers are hard at work writing a musical about her life. Cher wrote, in a series of tweets, that there will be three Chers represented in the musical. One before she met Sonny that continues through the Sonny & Cher years, another after she left that follows her through the Believe tour, and the present-day Cher. All three Chers will talk and sing to each other. She also tweeted that she is helping to write the show -- which will feature her own music -- "cause I was there & know stories that no1 knows but me!"
Who will play the many faces of Cher is yet to be discovered, but the goddess of pop did mention that she could play herself:
Cher's recent tweets about the production are not the first mention of the musical. In 2010, Broadway.com ran an article about the production, stating that film director Andy Fickman was hoping to bring Cher's story to the stage. Cher also tweeted, with a hint of frustration, that the musical has been in the works for a while now.
According to Popeater, Fickman has said that Cher is "a fairly phenomenal character...as a human being I think she's one of the great icons of all time, a force to be reckoned with."
We 'Believe' in you Cher!
