How about this deal. As s senior citizen I will trade my house, savings, paid off cars, pensions, every asset I have to a healthy 20 year old if he will give me his age and health in return. I would have not a dime but would be young again. I'll bet most seniors would make that trade. Both groups need to appreciate what they have and respect what the other has.

You had your chance to be young just like him,

Unlike him, you had a change to pay for a year of college with a part-time job, a chance to support your family on a high school diploma, a chance to pay or a stint in the hospital out of pocket, a chance to pay for a house and a car with three years' salary, a chance to have kids before 30 without bankrupting yourself, a chance to get a job easily, a chance to have a job that you knew wouldn't be cut to give a company a temporary boost in the stock market and/or offshored somewhere cheaper and/or to a H1B who will do your job cheaper.

All the younger generation wants is a few of the same opportunities you had-- before you elected a string of corporate puppets and eagerly cheered the destruction of unions.

Although I get irate when some boomers (such as above) decry the younger generation over stupid, ignorant things that have vastly changed-- I really do think this so-called 'generational war' is a ploy to distract us from the top 1% who has screwed all of us.

I hate stories like this that pit one generation against another. We are all in this together. If we don't paid Medicare, then we pay for our parent's medical bills. And of course there is a wealth gap between the old and young. Older people have had much longer to accumulate their wealth. That is how it should be.
