Matt Damon and Jeremy Renner technically don't appear together in "The Bourne Legacy" -- Damon's Jason Bourne is featured heavily in the film's trailer, though -- but that doesn't mean the pair won't team up in the future. At least that's the hope of producer Frank Marshall, who said as much to Empire magazine.
"You see there are several different programmes in the movie with different skill sets," Marshall said about "Bourne Legacy" (out in theaters on Aug. 10). "All possibilities are open. My dream is that in the next one we see Matt and Jeremy team up."
Fortunately for Marshall, that dream could become some reality. Speaking last year about "The Bourne Legacy," Damon noted that he was hoping the film would succeed.
"I think if ['Bourne Legacy'] doesn't work, we can just ignore it and pretend it didn't happen, and that'd be fine," he during an interview with KCRW. "But I expect that it will work and only help us if we did another one, which I'd love to do."
Whether Damon would want to appear in another "Bourne" film with director and screenwriter Tony Gilroy, of course, remains to be seen. Damon blasted Gilroy in an interview with GQ, saying that the "Bourne Legacy" director's initial script for "The Bourne Ultimatum" was a "career-ender." He later walked back from those comments, claiming they were "douchey."
